A Historic Stage
Saturday 27th September 2025 was a truly historic day – not only for women’s sport but also for the young dancers of Freedom Dance Studios, who had the incredible honour of performing at the Women’s Rugby World Cup final at the Allianz Twickenham Stadium.
The Journey to Twickenham
A group of our talented dancers aged 12-17 represented Freedom in the pre-game entertainment, bringing energy, and passion to the build-up of the match. Their journey began with rehearsals in Leeds just a week before the final, preparing alongside 93 other performers to create a spectacular showcase. On the Friday evening before the big event, the team travelled down to Twickenham, buzzing with excitement and anticipation for the performance of a lifetime.
Performing for a record-breaking crowd
On match day, the Freedom dancers lit up the atmosphere with performances in the plaza, in the bowl (pitchside), captivating the crowds as more than 82,000 fans streamed into the stadium. Taking centre stage as part of the official pre-game entertainment, they helped set the tone for what became the most attended women’s sport event in history.
A Milestone for England and Freedom
The occasion was made even more special with England defeating Canada in the final, giving the home crowd the perfect ending to a record-breaking day. Being part of such a groundbreaking occasion was an unforgettable experience for the dancers, their families, and the Freedom Dance Studios community. To have performed in front of the largest-ever live audience for women’s sport is a milestone that will be cherished forever.
Recognition in the Local Press
The story of Freedom’s achievement has also gained recognition in local press, featuring in both the Wirral Globe and Birkenhead News. For the dancers, this wasn’t just a performance – it was a chance to be part of sporting history, to celebrate women’s achievements on the global stage, and to showcase the dedication, talent, and spirit of Freedom Dance Studios.
